The Commercial Softball League’s season finally got underway on Monday at Michael Preece Stadium in Pembroke.

P & M Electicutes had their way with EZ Girls with a mercy victory of 20 to five in the Women’s Division.

Rose Saunders had the privilege of scoring the inaugural run of the season on a Carla Zuill (4-4) single in the first inning. P & M would score five in the first and six in the second as they took charge from early on.

Diane Blais was 3-3 with three runs scored while Charlene Corday (4-4) and Katie Horstman (2-3) also batted well.

EZ Girls only had eight hits with Sharon Schmidt going 2-3.

Men’s League

Blue 12, Red 6

Terence Corday hit the first home run of the season as he led his team to victory over the Red. Corday was 3-5 while leadoff man Johnny Ray was 4-5 and scored the first run of the year when he singled in the first inning and was brought in on Danny Cook’s (3-5) single. Seth Marshall (3-5) knocked in two runs for Red while Ryan Gaglio (3-50 and Justin Barritt (3-4) also had good turns with the bat.

White 26, Panthers 18

White jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and never trailed in this high scoring affair. Panthers kept things interesting but a nine-run seventh inning by White put this away.

Steve O’Flynn was 5-6 with five runs and 4 RBI for White.

Teammates Adam Matatall (2-3, HR 4 RBI), Joe Hooks (4-6, 4 RBI) and Kenrick Richardson (4-6, 2 HR, 6 RBI) all wielded the bat well in the win.

Captain Tracy Bean led from the front in the loss for Panthers. He was 4-6 and scored three runs.

Nyon Steede (3-4) and Brian Hall (3-5, HR) also had good turns at the plate in the loss.
