WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3: This year Cup Match showed off the talent of its talented young cricketers.

There are so many 16-year-olds to 25-year-olds that made both teams who are good players.

There were not too many who are in their 30s and married with kids.

This is a drastic change as this was probably two of the youngest teams in the history of Cup Match.

There were several players under 20 like Damali Bell, Kamau Leverock, and Terryn Fray.

These young guys bring a lot of excitement to the game.

Younger players tend to make more risks and with that brings excitement.

We’re going to see more results in Cup Match going forward because of this, which of great for the fans of cricket.

They help bring forth a high-tempo game, which is very good.

Damali Bell, our colt, is a class player, he didn’t have a great Cup Match and the occasion might have gotten to him.

Not too many young people get to play in front of 10,000 people.

I’ve seen that atmosphere get to players like Dexter Smith or Arnold Manders smoke a pack of cigarettes by lunchtime.

He won’t be the last one the nerves get the best of them.

Dream team

He did take a couple of nice catches and take Dion Stovell’s wicket, which was probably their biggest danger man.

He set the tome early on.

He’s only going to get better.

Every single player from St George’s contributed to our win whether it was diving for a ball and saving a boundary or taking a wicket or making five or six wickets.

St George’s has the dream team of coaches. With Wendell (Smith), Clay (Smith), Herbie (Bascome) and Clevie (Wade) we have four of the top coaches in Bermuda.

They have played for Bermuda and been Cup Match captains.

We had the benefit of their knowledge and a jump on Somerset right from the get go.

They set a plan for us and that was executed perfectly in the first innings.

The players still had to perform what was set out for them and Somerset fell for the trap that was laid.

The game ended up being close, but we let them back into the game. We had a perfect opportunity to give them a two-for-one.

They fought back and played well – credit to them for that — but we made a lot of bad mistakes.

We should have had a 200 run lead after the first innings.

It ended up being a very good came and we held up through the pressure.

It was great being at the wicket and being able to hit a six that won the match but I’ve been in bigger situations playing for Bermuda.

That’s part of the reason why I am known as The Finisher.

I am able to come in and finish the game with a big innings.

In 2007 in Cup Match, I had a 99 that helped St George’s when we were five for 50.

In some ways people may think this is more significant because Cup Match and cricket needed a win.

The timing of the knock was great for Bermuda and cricket.

It shows how great Cup Match can be and what we can look forward to with the young players coming through.
