Alex Dore was the MVP for the West as they defeated the East by 12 runs to win the Under-11 all-star match at the National Sports Centre.

The all-star game was preceded by a celebrity match which saw an Under-11 all-star side, led by Daelan Laws with 20, defeat a celeb side that included such luminaries as boxer Teresa Perozzi, MP Glenn Blakeney and radio personality Thaao Dill.

Despite a valiant nine from Perozzi and eight from Dill, the celebs went down by 37 runs in front of almost 1,000 spectators.

World middleweight champion, Perozzi stated about her performance, "Well I wouldn't quite give up my boxing career just yet! I need a lot of work but actually I really enjoyed the game and the whole day and would love to participate in it again. Next time I will put in some real training and be ready to hit some 6's!"

Charles Dupplin, chief executive officer of Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda), which sponsors the event and the Under-11 league said, "It was a tremendous day and the Celebrity team was well beaten by a very promising U11 side. We thirst for revenge another year."

Dupplin himself was the star of the show for the celebrities with 16.

Under-11 all-stars

The serious stuff came later however with the Under-11 all-star game.

In a tightly contested match the West prevailed by a narrow 12-run margin.

Dore, who scored 13 and took two wickets, was man of the match for the West while Aaron Burgess who scored 14 was man-of-the-match for the East.
