XL nabs next 'big' man in tennis
The big serving 6'9" North Carolinian only turned pro last year and has already claimed the scalps of Tim Henman and Tommy Hass.
He reached the final of Washington's Legg Mason classic before losing to Andy Roddick, who has hailed him as a future star.
Isner was granted a wildcard to the U.S. Open where he was beaten by world number one Roger Federer in the third round.
His star continued to rise this month when he beat Haas for the second time on his way to the quarter-finals of the San Jose Open in California.
He is currently ranked 94 in the world and will be one of the favourites for the much loved Bermuda event which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.
Tournament director Alec Anderson, said: "John had a consistent fall on the challenger circuit where he reached a final and two semifinals.
" Overall he raised his world ranking nearly 600 spots in 2007 and we are very excited that he will be coming to the island."
The likes of James Blake, Andy Roddick and David Nalbandian all played in the XL Bermuda Open in the past and critics believe Isner has every chance of following in their footsteps to become one of the world's top players.
Anderson said negotiations were ongoing to bring more top players to the island.
"We are presently in discussions with many players and will update you with exciting news and player commitments as they become available.
"We will of course have our legends exhibition matches during the weekend and will keep you up to date as those details become finalized.
"At present we are expecting Johan Kriek, Mikael Pernfors and Roy Emerson."
The dates for this year are April 21 to 27, 2008.
