West win Under-14 and Under-17 all-star games
FRIDAY, JULY 6: The best are in the West.
The Under-14 and Under-17 All-star cricket matches were played at the National Sports Centre last Saturday.
In the Bank of Bermuda Foundation Under-14 match, the West put up 126 to which the East could only reply 116. Warwick Workman’s Club’s Sanji Dill was 43 not out for the West and won the MVP award. Charles Trott (*23) and Jahkai Brangman (21) were the next high batsmen for the West.
The East were lead by Sekiyah James’ 21. Shaquille Outerbridge added 19 to his side’s total.
The West’s Isaiah Richardson claimed four wickets.
In the BF&M Under-17 match, the West put up 117 runs to the East’s 103 in a match reduced to 29 overs.
The East’s Swayne Campbell was the Man of the Match with 36. Teammate Demiko James added 18* for his side’s total. Both Antonio Darrell and William White each took two wickets for the West.
Tailender Denar Johnson provided a big boost to the West’s flagging total as he had 28 runs off his 24 balls. The next high batsman was opener Joshua Commissiong with 17. Commissiong, who plays for Willow Cuts in the league, also had the catch of the day.
