Under-13s

The West hung on to beat the East Under-13 All-stars by one run at the National Centre last Saturday. The East won the toss and sent the West into bat in the 20 overs match. West opening batsmen Chikosi Smith (9) and Justin Donawa (5) both retired not out to get their squad rolling. Tre Manders (11) helped push the score along to 40-1 before being caught by East captain Keishun Smith off the bowling of Sean Smith. Kavendra Jaayatuna (14) and Raheim Steede (15) also reached double figures for the West.

Jonte Smith (four overs, nine runs) was the pick of the East bowlers, but Scott Gilbertson, Keishun Smith and Onaius Bascome all claimed wickets.

With a target of 100, CJ Marshall started off the East on the right foot with a knock of 20. While partners fell around him, Marshall had a steady hand until Oniaus Bascome joined him at the wicket. Bascome retired with a fine 16 not out. Almair Waldron also added 16 before being run out as the East began to press to reach the target.

Justin Donawa took 3 for 9 in his three overs in helping the West to victory. Antoine Williams was 2 for 4.

Under-10s

The West had an easier time in the Under-10s as they won by 46 runs. The West won the toss and elected to bat with Chare Smith and Milan Butterfield opening up. The two batsmen nearly got all the runs the West would need as Smith put up a 22 on the scoreboard and Butterfield added a 20. Andrew Forgesson claimed Butterfield's wicket to help get the East back in the game.

Bryce Wolchekski (11) would be the only other West batsman to reach double figures as the team finally reaching 93 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Osagi Bascome, Jahfari Tucker and Aaron Burgess also claimed wickets for the East.

Calum Maule would open for the East and get eight runs before being caught by Brendon Pimental off the bowling of Christian Petty. That eight would be the high score for the East. Keziah Martin added 7 and Clementine Keyes had five in a limited batting attack.

Petty took two wickets for one run in his two overs while team-mates Alex Price and Chare Smith also took wickets.
