WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19: Bermuda restaurants, suffering during these lean economic times, could get a much needed shot in the arm as two local websites have come together with scheme that simplifies restaurant reservations.

Table.bm and bermuda.com have teamed up in an effort to drive more business to the island’s restaurant sector.

According to a press release, a new partnership allows bermuda.com users to seamlessly make reservations online at Table.bm, a booking engine for many of Bermuda’s most well-known restaurants.

“We have a lot of vacationers coming through our site while planning their trips,” said bermuda.com general manager Glenn Jones.

“We think they are going to love the simplicity of this new service. But this isn’t for visitors only, we want residents to use the service as well — one try and they’ll be hooked. It’s so easy.”

Web users will find a “Book a Table” icon at bermuda.com next to the listings of restaurants that are part of the Table.bm booking service.

Clicking on that icon takes users to a special welcome page at Table.bm where they can log in or sign up to make online restaurant reservations anytime of the day or night.

The restaurant confirms the reservation directly with the customer via e-mail.

Table.bm has offered the service of free online restaurant booking for years, part of the Gateway Systems group of companies.

Table.bm won the Bermuda Government technology aptitude contest in 2009.

John Kyle, Gateway CEO said: “We developed the site with a mobile component to aid the hospitality industry advertise their product and offer it to the ever-increasing number of technology savvy consumers who are on and visit the island.”

About 60 local restaurants are benefitting from this service with the number of participating restaurants growing every month.
