He's the first person ever to break 12,000 runs in Test cricket and as he says he's not quitting soon.
I don't see anyone breaking Sachin's record in the next fifty years. He's been playing at the very top level since he was 16 and he is still fit and hungry to keep on going.
I've met Sachin on a couple of occasions and he told me his secret was simply time in the middle. As a young cricketer he just played and played. There's no substitute for game situations.
Whenever India is playing I'm always up watching - whatever time of night - and I had the privilege of seeing Sachin break Brian Lara's record.
The only person that I see that could possibly break it is another player who was involved in that game - Ricky Ponting.
If Sachin keeps on playing like he says he is going to then he should be able to stay well ahead.
He also holds the record for the most centuries and the most one-day-international runs. He's just an amazing human being who has played his whole life in the right spirit.
He really respects the game and what cricket has given him.
inspiration
He has been my biggest inspiration throughout my career. I've always been an India fan and this is just another thing to let me know I can't stop playing.
Even at my age I can still get better. I can still keep training and playing and looking to improve.
We've got the Americas Championship coming up in Florida next month and the few of us that are left on the island are starting to step up our preparations.
A lot of the guys are away at the Academy in Australia or at school in England and that's great.
Those of us that are here in Bermuda have been working with Gus in the nets and at the Olympic Club gym on our fitness.
Everybody's working hard and enjoying it and we can't wait to get the full squad back together and go and defend our Americas title.[[In-content Ad]]
