Waiting to earn their spot

Players in the running for World Cup call up

In the run up to Bermuda's visit to Namibia we speculated that there were eight players who had one foot on the plane to West Indies 2007.

The names, probably penned in on Gus Logie’s team list barring injury or catastrophic loss of form, will surely include Saleem Mukuddem, Irving Romaine, Janeiro Tucker, Clay Smith, Dean Minors, Lionel Cann, Dwayne Leverock and Kevin Hurdle.

Ryan Steede advanced his cause further with some decent displays in tough conditions in Africa and given that he has been part of every Gus Logie squad so far, he can probably be added to that list. Although all the bowlers could have done better on the African tour.

The final five places, though, are up for grabs, with as many as 20 players bubbling under.

It's going to make for some high pressure and some exciting cricket in the weeks and months to come.

But how did the runners and riders fare last season. Who’s got the best stats in the domestic game.

Here’s how they fared in 2005….
