Two set for Pan Am games
The Bermuda Equestrian Federation said it is proud to already have two qualified for the sports festival.
Terceira and Nesbitt will represent Bermuda in the dressage, eventing and the show jumping. Three other riders are trying to gain qualification: one in Show Jumping (Tim Collins) and two in dressage (Annabelle Collins and Christopher Taylor).
The BEF has conjoined with the Bermuda Olympic Association in order to raise funds for the riders that have qualified.
A spokesperson said the estimated cost for horse and rider team is $50,000. She added: "The riders that are representing Bermuda are great role models for young Bermudian equestrians."
The public is invited to view the Sponsorship page on the Bermuda Equestrian Federation website at www.bef.bm (Sponsorship link).
In local news, Stephanie Wilkinson and Tattertales will be on show this weekend at the Bermuda Horse and Pony Association's Jumper Series.
The show starts at 9am Sunday at the Equestrian Centre on Vesey Street with the schooling round.
At 10am it's the "Puddle Jumper" for horses and ponies. The maximum height of fences in this round is 2'3".
This is a competition against the clock, but in the event of equality of penalties for first place, there will be one jump-off against the clock.
Other competitors are placed according to their penalties and time in the first round. Towards the end of the day, the horses will be jumping up to 4' in height and thereafter there will be "speed rounds" for horses and ponies.
The BEF will also be holding their 30th Anniversary Fund Raising Show on February 24 and 25.
The Bermuda Equestrian Federation, which was formed in 1976 to enable local riders to compete for their country internationally, is an entirely amateur organization run by volunteer members.[[In-content Ad]]
