Twice as nice
Every class saw one rider dominate to win both heats in the latest motorcycle racing action at Southside.
Mini Bike Open
Tamia Place took two more victories with Serene Williams adding two more seconds to her collection. Monique Waite was third in the day’s second race. Place has a lock on the championship with a lead of over 150 points. Place moved past Coleridge Fubler into second over.
GP70 Class
Shae Darrell (12) continues to dominate the GP70 classification week after week. Darrell started from pole position in both race heats of the day leading from start to finish. He has shown extreme determination in his bid to win the GP70 Championship in 2010 after finishing a near second place in 2009. Darrell extended his lead by another 10 points at the top of the championship 131 points clear of second place rider Haley Place. Taznae Fubler is third overall, 75 points behind Place.
GP80 Class
Wytiko Showers reigned the podium with two firsts. The twin triumphs helped him push his class lead to 139 points over Jazari Caisey who had a second and third on Sunday. Chare Smith lost valuable ground to Caisey with a DNF and is now 41 points in the battle for second. Koshun Dill had a second and third as he moved into fifth overall.
Scooter Class
Five bikes zipped and zagged their way through the Southside course but it was Kenneth DeSilva who topped the podium with two firsts. Those wins were huge as DeSilva doubled his lead over Jordan Fletcher in the overall championships. DeSilva had a fourth and fifth to fall 52 points behind DeSilva. It was a good day for Jeneko Place with two seconds. Place is third overall with 240 points. Dean Jones had a fourth and third while Ricardo Wade was third and fifth.
Formula Class
Tony Grant’s two firsts allowed him to build up a 137-point lead over Ed Cook. Kewaun Gilbert and Jahi Saltus each had a second.
GP125 Class
In race one Andrew DeCosta, Bruce Degrilla and Cody Sousa-Saints battled three wide into turn one. It quickly intensified as all three riders fought for the lead during the first half of the race.
Degrilla made a pass for the lead and that left the other two riders to go toe-to-toe for second.
Within a few laps Sousa-Saints made a final pass which sealed his runner-up position as he put distance between himself and DeCosta as the race wound down.
Race two was more of the same except Sousa-Saints held the early lead.
Degrilla managed to get back in front and with Sousa-Saints suffering mechanical issues, DeCosta finished second.
Degrilla leads the GP125 Championship by 26 points over DeCosta with Sousa-Saints trailing second by 34 points.
Superbike Classification
Keanu Wilson had two firsts as he beat Ed Daniels twice with Bryce Place taking two thirds. With Cyril Whitter no longer competing this season to concentrate on the youth development programme, Wilson has a 100-point advantage over Place for the lead.
