Tuff Dogs survive Southlands scare
Tuff Dogs scored three runs in the final inning to slip by Southlands by 21-20 in a high scoring thriller. Southlands scored ten runs in the fourth inning to take the lead, with Steven Simons connecting for a grand slam to highlight the attack. Mike Abbott and Darren Green added two-run shots for Southlands. Tuff Dogs roared back with eleven runs in the sixth to spark the comeback, as Jermaine Jeffers and Bradley Barton homered at each end of the frame.
Docksiders 27, Marsh 11
Docksiders Tuff Dogs kicked off the second season with a 27-11 thrashing of Marsh. Ryon Outerbridge and Adam Mattatal each knocked in five runs, while Joanie Harper brought in two more. Joe Fassler drove in two for Marsh.
ACE 7, Police 4
ACE handcuffed the Enforcers for five innings, scoring seven runs early and settling for a 7-4 victory. Joe Bellanca led ACE with a pair of bombs, driving in five runs. Jason Ming and Troy Glasgow hit back-to-back shots in the sixth inning to finally get the Enforcers on the scoreboard.
BISYS 8, BEST 5
BISYS edged BEST Shipping by 8-5, scoring five times in the third inning to hand BEST its first loss of the year. Sumeda Assalaratchy hit three times for BISYS. Kevin Hatt drove in two for BEST.
Argus 24, Arch 11
Argus crushed rival Arch by 24-11, opening with five runs and never looking back. Tory Richard and Wayne Ferguson both homered and drove in five runs. Robert Dickinson doubled in two runs for Arch.
Electre-Cute 15, Sluggers 4
P&M Electri-Cute took a 15-4 decision over Swizzlin' Sluggers in the Ladies Division. Angela Bennett tripled twice to drive in three runs, while Antoinette Williams went 4/4 to bring in two. Robin Campbell chipped in two hits for Swizzlin.
Stars 21, Cafe Cairo 8
International Stars scored seven times in the second inning en route to a 21-8 win over Café Cairo. Earlene Wilkinson and Terry Darrell each collected three hits and drove in three, with Wendy Smith adding two more for International. Ashley Lopes had three hits for Café Cairo, and Sarah Robinson added two doubles.
Is. Construction 9, Frontier 8
Island Construction edged past Frontier by 9-8, scoring the deciding run in the ninth inning. Trevor Corday drove in two, including the game winner, and Richard Madeiros added three hits. Allan Walker drove in two for Frontier, who scored twice in the top of the ninth to briefly tie the game. n
