Tuff Dogs even series with Sea Venture
Sea Venture opened the top division finals with a 14-7 win over Tuff Dogs, scoring six times in the third inning and adding four in the fourth to pull away. Terence Corday and Chris Coleman provided the fireworks, hitting grand slams in consecutive innings to push up the score. Steve O’Flynn slammed a three-run homerun in defeat.
Tuff Dogs evened the series with a 25-14 win in the following game. Ryan Gaglio (4/5, 5 RBI) slugged a three-run homerun and Hywel Brown (3 RBI) added four hits. Mark Herauf (3/3, 4 RBI) hit a three-run bomb in the loss.
B Division
Renegades crushed Allpoints by 18-9 in the first game of the finals. Anthony Christopher (4/5, 6 RBI) slammed two homeruns, while Sakena Clarke added four hits for the Renegades. Jason Pethick (3/3, 3 RBI) hit a two-run shot in the loss.
Renegades edged Allpoints by 18-17 in the second game to take a stranglehold on the series. Millard Rawlings (3/4) and Matthew Fully (2/3) each drove in two runs in the win. Trevor McHaney (3/4) hit a two-run homerun for the Allpoints.
In earlier action, Renegades advanced to the finals with an 11-8 win over Endurance in their deciding game. Kijuan Franks (4 RBI) homered and Preston Mallory added three hits. Adam Outerbridge (3 RBI) cracked two homeruns for Endurance, who managed to score three runs in the final inning but fell just short.
C Division
Marsh Madness narrowly defeated D&J Construction by 11-9 to open their series, scoring six runs in the first inning and adding four in the seventh to secure the game. Mike Fullen (3/4) blasted two homeruns to drive in six runs for Marsh. Janeene Harris (2/3) drove in three runs to lead D&J.
Marsh moved within a victory of the championship with a 10-8 win in the second game. Joel Czember (3/4, 5 RBI) homered twice for Marsh. John Blanchard drove in two runs for D&J.
D Division
Killer Goldfish finally saw some playoff action, shaking off the rust with eight runs in the third inning to take a 19-12 decision over Bermy Lush Kiskadees. Gary Adams (3/4) homered and drove in five runs, while Matt Durrant (3 RBI) hit three sacrifice flies for the Goldfish. Kevin McCottry went deep for the Kiskadees.
Men’s Division
SVOS thrashed Tuff Dogs in the opening game, scoring six runs in the first and never looking back en route to a 21-4 victory. Al Chavis (4/4, HR) and Steve Simons (3/4, HR) each drove in three runs in the win. Justin Barritt (3 RBI) broke up the shutout with a three-run homerun in the sixth inning.
