Star all-rounder Rodney Trott will spearhead Young Men's Social Club's revival during the upcoming cricket season.

Social Club were relegated from the top tier last season and have pinned their hopes of a swift return on the broad shoulders of incoming player/coach Trott.

Trott, who departed with the senior national squad for South Africa last night, said: "I just wanted a change. Sometimes it's nothing wrong with a little change in life and I felt this was the time in my life to try something different."

The 22-year old off spinner and early order bat has dropped a bombshell by transferring from his beloved Bailey's Bay to play First Division cricket with former Premier and Central Counties champs Social Club.

He said: "That was one thing that I thought about. But I don't mind playing First Division (cricket) and I am looking forward to the challenge."

Trott will now team up with the likes of former Bailey's Bay teammate Charlie Marshall and fellow all-rounder David Lovell at the Angle Street club.

Also said to be on the move to Social Club is former national team spinner Tamauri Tucker while Southampton Rangers opening bat Dion Stovell is understood to have contemplated joining as well.

Trott, meanwhile, is the latest brand name player to opt for greener pastures elsewhere during the off-season behind the likes of Malachi Jones and George O'Brien jr, who have transferred to newly promoted Willow Cuts.

ICC World Cup veteran Jones moved from BELCO Cup and Western Counties champs Southampton Rangers while fiery fast bowler O'Brien has parted ways with Police Recreation Club. Bermuda Cricket Board's transfer deadline expires at the end of the month.[[In-content Ad]]
