The popular Tokio Youth Mountain Bike Series returns for a fourth year in November. The free seven race series is aimed at introducing cycling to primary school children to help promote good physical fitness.
Children are free to use any kind of bicycle —even those with training wheels — to participate and they do not need a mountain bike.
This is a fun family event that moms and dads enjoy as they cheer on their children on the Arboretum and Ferry reach courses.
Each week there are fabulous draw prizes.
A Tokio spokesperson said: “We’ve spread out the series to start a week earlier and it will carry on through the first week of February. We are trying to avoid the busy times so as many children as possible can participate.
”Our target is to introduce children to the sport and make it fun. This isn’t meant to be viciously competitive.”
There’s no sign-up fee and participating children will get goodie bags courtesy of Tokio Millennium Re.
The Coffee Man will also be present mixing up lattes or other java beverages for the parents. n
