FRIDAY, FEB. 11, 10.15am: As striking bus drivers gathered this morning, well-placed sources have suggested to the Sun that their demands will be met, at least partially, by Government.

The drivers began industrial action on Wednesday evening over the firing of a colleague for 'gross misconduct'.

The Bermuda Industrial Union and Government reached stalemate yesterday, with the former suggesting termination was too harsh and the latter pushing for drivers to go back to work while the matter was sent to arbitration.

This morning, scores of drivers made their way on foot to the Transport Control Department, ahead of an 11am meeting with Marine and Ports workers. The union strongly hinted yesterday that the strike action could escalate if the bus driver is not reinstated.

This morning, however, unconfirmed reports suggest that the Government is set to soften its stance. We are told that the termination of the driver will be amended to six weeks' suspension and a year's probation.

More updates to follow.
