Rain has affected play for the last two weeks as only a handful of games have been played in the start of the Commercial Softball League.

A Division

Soundstage 18, Panthers 15

Matthew Hayward (2-4) blasted homers in the first and second innings to help Soundstage jump out to a 14 to 2 lead. The A Division newbies then held on to secure their first ever win in the big boys division.

Matthew Fullerton (3-3) and Tache King (2-2) were both perfect at the plate for Soundstage while team-mate Paul DeCouto was 3-4.

Leading the way for Panthers was player-coach Tracey Bean, who was 3-5 with a homer and 5 RBI. First baseman Scott Quinn (2-4) also homered in the loss.

BNTB 10, Marsh 11

Marsh was on the verge of defeat when they rallied with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to snatch victory away from the Bank. Greg Carey (2-3) was the hero when he knocked home the tying and winning runs. Mike Sterzuk was 3-4 for Butterfield.

The Bank had nine runs through four innings but could only plate one more run for the rest of the game. Chris McLean (4-4) hit two homers and was much of the Bank's offence as he knocked home seven runners.

Paul Cashin (3-4) and Donnie Moniz (2-3) also had good turns at the plate.

P & M 17, BNTB 11

In spite of Chris McLean hitting three homes and driving in nine runs, the Bank fell to P & M, which played six women. A nine-run first gave P & M a solid foundation to take this game to the Bank. McLaren Lowe and Johnny Ray were both 4-4. Lowe and Chris Coleman homered for P & M.

Matt Gorrell was 3-3 for Butterfield.

Volcanic Uzi Fish 22, Docksiders Tuff Dogs 34

It was a hitters' paradise as these two teams combined for 57 safe knocks.

Andrew Burgess (6-7), Justin Barritt (5-6) and Steve O'Flynn (5-7) were the big men for the Dogs. Adam Mattal and Justin Barritt both hit homers in the win.

Adam Birch (6-6) hot for the cycle in the loss and knocked home six runs. Richard Madeiros (5-6) and Cameron Morfitt (4-5) also gave good accounts of themselves at the plate. Morfitt smashed two homers and drove home seven for Uzi Fish.

B Division

Bermuda Blueprinting 17, Robin Hood 11

David Gibbons (4-5) homered to help lead Blueprinting to this victory. His team scored nine times in the fourth to give Blue the upper hand as John Stephens (3-5 drove in two with a single. Steven Bridges was 4-5 in the triumph.

Tyler Hall (4-4) set the table for Robin Hood while Al Busby (2-4) blasted a homer.

Caceis 26, BEST Shipping 18

Jeff Jane (3-3, HR, 7 RBI) and Anthony Christopher (4-4, HR 5 RBI) led the way for Caceis as they out-muscled BEST. Team-mates Shawn Wood (3-4), Scott Shannon (3-5) and Jerri-Lee Swan (2-3) also contributed to the victory.

Alex Terceira and Micah Meens were both 4-5 with a homer and four RBI for BEST.

Men

Tuff Dogs 19, AF Smith 4

League favourites Tuff Dogs ended this game on the mercy rule as Steve O'Flynn (4-5) helped power them to the win with two late inning homers. Mark Herauf (4-4) also homered twice for the winners.

Chris McLean was 3-4 for AF Smith.

Women

Lady Giants 13, EACy Grlz 7

Giants picked up seven runs in the first and rolled to win as Sarah Robinson was 3-3 from the cleanup spot. Giants took advantage of the nine walks issued to them, scoring seven of them. Tache King was 2-2 for Giants.

Nicole Phillips, Delyght Thomas, Catherine Vu and Tawana Lee all had two hits for EACy.

All games were played at Michael Preece Stadium.[[In-content Ad]]
