Somerset Colts seek glory for the Red and Blue
FRIDAY, JULY 27: St George’s may have won mini-Cup Match yesterday, but Somerset is looking to swing things back in its favour on Sunday.
The Colts Cup match will take place on their grounds at 11am.
Coaches Shawn Roberts and Jeff Richardson as well as manager Mike Corday gave a rundown of the talent the squad has.
Shaquille Jones
Very promising open batsman already featuring in SCC’s senior team. Good left arm off-break bowler and good in the field. Can keep wicket too.
Brian Hall
Aggressive early order bat who features in Western Stars young First Division team. Good seam bowler with a great attitude. Good in the field.
Tre Manders
Another product of Western Stars youth brigade. One of the Islands most promising, early order bats. Great attitude and very good in the field.
Alex Dore
Southampton Rangers promising, young early order bat. Good attitude and a good off-break bowler.
Kwasi James
Another young SCC senior team player. Good swing bowler who has taken wickets all season. Potentially lethal middle order bat.
Justin Corday
Young SCC senior team player. Has the potential to be one of the best leg-break bowlers on the island. Great demeanour and attitude. Good middle order bat and very good in the field.
Marcus Johnson
SCC off-break bowler who has claimed wickets throughout the season. Aggressive middle order bat. Fast and strong in the field.
Kamal Easton
SCC’s young pace sensation. Fast and aggressive with tremendous potential to be one of Bermuda’s quicker bowlers. Great attitude. Strong middle order bat with a tremendous throwing arm.
Greg Maybury
One of SCC’s most prominent youngsters. Extremely talented, hostile pace bowler honing his craft in England for the past few years. Very disciplined and technically sound in all aspects of the game. Very professional minded.
Tyshaun Brown
Another good all-round prospect from SCC’s cricket programme. A utility player with great team ethics and handy with both bat and ball.
Christian Gibbons
Southampton Ranger’s young seamer who is amongst the wicket takers this year. A useful bat and good fielder.
Jakai Benjamin
(Reserve): One of SCC’s promising U-14 players who posseses raw, natural cricketing talent. No doubt will make his mark in the game in the near future.
