Simpson helps lift Tuff Dogs to two late inning victories

Tuff Dogs used a three-run homer by Andrew Simpson (4-5) and a two-run shot by Justin Barritt (4-5) to defeat White Mountain Re 13 to 7. Tuff Dogs led all the way and the game was still close after five innings with the Dogs ahead 8 to 6 before pulling away.

Kevin Taylor (3-5) also homered for Tuff Dogs.

Jeremy Sanford and Art Palmer were both 3-4 for White Mountain with Palmer blasting a three-run homer.

SVOS 12, Castlewood 1

A Barry Griffiths homer was the only run Castlewood managed in a 12 to 1 loss to Sea Venture. SVOS scored five in the first inning as they cruised to victory. Johnny Ray (2-4), Danny Cook (2-4) and Mark Herauf (1-3) all homered in the win. Terence Corday 93-4), Sarah Tufts (2-3) and Jon Gazard all had fine turns of the bat for Sea Venture.

Andy Broadbent had three of Castlewood's eight hits.

Renegades 18, HSBC 8

The Renegades banked 18 runs against eight for HSBC for a comfortable win. Renegades picked up six runs in the first, thanks in part to a David Wall (2-4) three-run homer. Cleanup hitter Anthony Christopher (5-5) hit two homers and drove in six runs for the victors. Team-mates Maxwell Burgess (4-5), Dwayne Basden (3-5) and Preston Mallory (3-5) all contributed to the win.

HSBC played with an automatic out but saw Ian Moores, Khalid Pitcher and Joan Chang all go 3-5.

Panthers 23, Beach Boyz 15

In men's league play, The Panthers gave the Beach Boyz bad vibrations in a 23 to 15 fightback.

The Beach Boyz led 14 to 8 after four innings with Les Dziwenka (2-4) Kevin Taylor (3-5) and Chad Cunliffe (1-5) all homering.

Garic Swainson (3-6) led the comeback for Panthers with a three-run homer in the fifth and a grand slam in the seventh. Troy Dart, Nelson Arruda and Tracey Bean were all 3-5 for the winners.

Tuff Dogs 14, Ernst 12

Tuff Dogs and Ernst & Young turned a boring low-scoring affair into a thrilling finish with both sides scoring six runs in the final frame. Andrew Simpson (2-4) ended the game with a two-run shot to give the Dogs a 14 to 12 triumph. Justin Barritt (3-5) hot the second of his two homers in the ninth to set up Simpson for his game-winning smash.

In the top of the ninth Monte Palsat (3-5) hit a grand slam for Ernst and Greg Carey (2-5) also hit a two-run dinger. Earlier in the game Jeff Jane (3-4) hit a two-run homer for E&Y.

SVOS 22, A.F.Smith 5

Sea Venture slaughtered A.F. Smith 22 to 5 as Deon Bell blasted two homers and drove in eight runs. Mark Melo (2-4) also hit two homers for Sea Venture. Dann Kidd hit a three-run homer for A.F. Smith.[[In-content Ad]]
