Sea Venture survives near sinking by Tuff Dogs
SVOS 16, Tuff Dogs 13
Sea Venture scored four times in the top of the ninth to come from behind to defeat Tuff Dogs. McLaren Lowe (4-5) got the inning started for SVOS with a single. Daniel Bordage (3-4) singled and then Chris Montgomery drew a walk to load the bases. Charlene Bausman (2-4) hit a sac fly before singles by Danny Cook (4-6), Terence Corday (5-6) and Mark Herauf helped knock in the winning runs.
Kevin Taylor was 3-5 with two homers and six RBI for Tuff Dogs. Steve O'Flynn and Ryan Outerbridge were both 4-5 in the losing cause.
Hit 'n' Sit 26, Frontier 17
Hit'n'Sit took advantage of key errors in the eighth and ninth innings to break open a close game with Frontier Flyers. Darren Green (4-6) blasted two homers and drove in six runners form the cleanup spot for Hit 'n' Sit. Ron Penton (4-6) and Jonathan Noseworthy (5-7) help propel the team to the win.
Joe Bellanca (5-6) was the top batter for Frontier. Paul DeCouto hit a grand slam and Nyon Steede (3-5) hit a three-run shot.
B Division
Scan Re 25, Castlewood 11
A power outage saw Castlewood fall to division rival Scan re 25 to 11. Castlewood was ahead 10 to 9 after three innings, but could only put up one more run in the final four frames.
Monte Palsat 92-4) hit a three-run homer for Scan re in the second as did Dave Allison (5-6). Team-mate Art Palmer (5-6) blasted a two-run homer in the first for Scan Re.
Castlewood also raced through its allotted homers in the first two innings with Darren Green (4-4) hitting two and Greg Carey (3-4) hitting the other.
C Division
TBI 13, Robin Hood 12
Denika Fishington scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Robin Hood slipped past TBI. Robin Hood dominated the early innings before Robin Hood made this a close contest.
Chris Pitcher, Baron Barton and Rahji Edness were all 3-5 for TBI.
It was a good effort for TBI as they played a woman short for the game and probably would have won had they fielded the extra player. Tyler Hall (3-5) was the top batter for the Hood.
Mixed
Tuff Dogs 26, Docksiders 20
Tuff Dogs beat their stablemates with little problem. It took The Dogs four innings to surpass Docksiders after spotting them 10 runs. Trevor Ferguson and Ross Dowling homered for Docksiders while Ryan Calhoun and Jimmy Tatem both hit grand slams for Tuff Dogs. Also homering for the victors was Kevin Taylor.
Castlewood 15,
Blueprinting 10
Spotted with a five-run lead, Bermuda Blueprinting held on four innings before succumbing to Castlewood. The winners picked up a couple of homers from Darren Green (3-4) and a grand slam for Junior Lapointe. Blueprinting had only three singles as they struggled against their B Division foes.[[In-content Ad]]
