FRIDAY, JAN. 18: The 2013 Bicycle Works Mountain Bike Racing Series slipped into gear nicely with an absorbing series opener at Arboretum last weekend.
And it’s not too late to sample the action, with the second of the eight-race series —brought to you by The Fat Tire Massive — being held at Fort Scaur on Sunday, 9am start.
With your best six results from the season counting, riders entering now can still be in with a great chance of challenging at the top of the leaderboard.
A total of 72 riders competed in race one, with Mark Hatherley picking up the first victory of the season.
Race director Hans Hirschi said: “Mountain biking is a great way to enjoy and explore Bermuda’s beautiful trail and parks while getting some exercise.
“This year’s mountain bike race season visits some of Bermuda’s best parks and the race series gives participants of all skill levels and ages the opportunity to ride on a closed, traffic free, safe course.
“Mountain bike racing is more about the rider experience and course and less about the result. This creates a positive atmosphere which can be enjoyed by both competitors and spectators.”
