RUBIS squash tournament to feature 60 competitors
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 10: The RUBiS Divisional Handicap Squash Tournament 2012 gets under way next week with over 60 competitors in 4 divisions.
Winner of the RUBiS title for the last three years Micah Franklin, now based in Toronto as a pro player is not available to defend this year so we are guaranteed a new winner. Top seed for the event is South African Anthony Fellowes who is scheduled to meet Stephen Smith in the A Division Finals. Both players face stiff opposition with top Bermuda junior D’Vario Thompson looking to make an impression, Bermuda National Ladies Champion Laura Robinson and World Distributors Champion Susie Lacey also in the mix and top players Jan Brewer and Andrew Robinson also looking for a shot at the title.
The event also features a junior tournament with kids playing off for the RUBiS Junior Squash Scholarship prize. Competition will be fierce with 16 of Bermuda’s best young players battling it out for the top prize.
Play starts on Tuesday 16th Oct and is every night from 6pm at the BSRA. The RUBiS Divisional Handicap 2012 finals will be on Saturday 20th from 5pm. Entrance is FREE and spectators are welcome.
