Bermuda Championships

Lamar Richardson bowled a perfect game as he helped lead his team, The Scrubs, to victory in the third annual Bermuda USBC Annual Bowling Championships last Sunday.

The game is more amazing when added in to the fact that Richardson, had just recovered from a broken wrist that he had received while playing for Bermuda's national youth cricket team. Apart from the ninth frame when Lamar hit on the Brooklyn side, the rest were solid pocket hits, Lamar did a 100-yard dash in a 50-yard area after he threw the last ball. Richardson said: "I know now how those guys feel when they have 11 in a row, you just keep saying, I've got to get the next one".

The rest of his team did well with former Commonwealth Games silver medalist Antoine Jones rolling a 232, Raymond Burchall a 200, Delmont Tucker 189 and 'Mr. 300; Dean Lightbourn a 225. The team total of 1,146. Left them with an average of 229 for that game. The Scrubs had a total of 3,373 to beat runner-up Hot Shots by 140 pins. Third place was the Linky Boys at 3,202.

In the women's division Josie Richardson led her team to victory with handicap scores of 717, followed by Sharon Davis 702, Sherry Tucker 645, Terrlynn Jones 634 and Olivette Armstrong with a 685.
