Forty Rego has blasted rival boxing coach Chucky Renaud ahead of this weekend's Fists of Fury rumble insisting: "You're all talk".

The verbal sparring match continued before the event - dubbed the Ultimate Fighters Championship - as Rego responded to the Controversy Gym boss's claim that he was 'running scared'.

Last week Renaud threw a right hook at his rival claiming Rego was afraid to put his boxers in the ring with his fighters.

But Rego hit back with a hard right, warning: "You've really put your foot in it now."

And he accepted the challenge to pit his fighters against the best Controversy Gym had to offer.

"Jermal Woolridge is the best heavyweight in Bermuda. He's been with me for three years. Chucky has put his foot in it now. He won't be able to back out this time. I know he's got a heavyweight so he's got to come out and fight Jermal.

"The only way he can get out of this one is to pay Jermal not to fight or go after him and beg him not to turn up."

Rego followed up with another verbal jab at Renaud, pouring scorn on his training methods.

"He's got fighters, I train boxers. There is a difference. Boxing is a science, fighting is not a science.

"That's how James Buster Douglas and Evander Holyfield were able to beat up Mike Tyson. He's a fighter, they are boxers. Whenever you get a fighter against a boxer, you have to go with the boxer."

Rego added that Saturday night's event - which pits Bermuda's three boxing gyms against each other to find out who is the best in Bermuda - would also be a chance to see the coaches in action.

And he said the Mitt Work demonstrations, which are part of the competition, would show the difference between him and his rival.

"I'm going to get in the ring with my boxers and do a demo with the guys I train. He has to do the same with his fighters. He can't send somebody from his gym to do it for him, he has to get in the ring. He says he is the best coach in Bermuda and now he has to get up there and demonstrate to the people what it is he does."

Rego, who has two other fighters competing at the event, signed off with a cryptic retort for Renaud.

"Humour the fool that he might think that he is wise and he will outsmart himself."
