And the public has been warned to steer clear of the firing areas while training takes place.
The first live firing exercise will be held on Sunday between 10am and 3pm.
Warrant Officer 2 Fred Oldenburg said: “Red warning flags, boards and sentries will be positioned to prevent movement into the danger area.”
He added that boats will also not be allowed to enter the area offshore and that Regiment Boat Troop craft would be on station to the east and west of the shore to prevent access while live ammunition is being fired.
WO2 Oldenburg said: “There is no restriction of access to Horseshoe Beach and people can gain access via the main slip road throughout this period of training.”
Live firing will also be carried out on:
- January 20 between 12.30pm and 6pm;
- January 24 between 12.30pm and 6pm;
- January 26 between 8am and 1pm and;
- January 27 between 2pm and 5pm.
In addition, exercises using blank ammunition and pyrotechnics will be carried out in the same area, starting on Sunday (10am-3pm).
More exercises are scheduled for:
- January 18 between 11am and 12.30pm;
- January 20 between 10.10am and 5.30pm and;
- January 21 between 10.30am and 12.20pm.
