Red and Blue looking to break through with a win

Red and Blue looking to break through with a win

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1: Mike Corday, team manager for Somerset, has faith and trust in his side’s XI for Thursday and Friday, and the whole community is behind them. He told Don Burgess as much young talent that Somerset has on this squad, there’s still a lot more to come and the club has a bright future.

He’s the best wicketkeeper in the island and really solid with the glove.

He’s a very intelligent cricketer — a thinking captain. I know he’s been pondering on how to win this game since last year.

He is the best number three around. We are looking for him to deliver the goods at Cup Match this year. Like Jekon, he’s a very intelligent cricketer. We’re fortunate to have two thinkers guiding us.

Chris is a dynamic opening bat. If he gets going, St George’s will be in deep trouble. he is very aggressive. A great stroke player who can also give us a bit of spin if we need it.

Everyone knows Janeiro is Mr Cup Match, but this year he just needs to be very focused. He’s lost weight, he’s been training hard; he just seems to be very focused on the job of winning Cup Match. He is very dangerous and explosive.

Greg Maybury, 19
Left-hand bat
Right-arm medium-fast

CUP MATCH STATS

Colt

He is one of the best pace bowlers we’ve seen in a long while.

He is very professionally based. His attitude is amazing. His demeanour is excellent and he’s just a really thoughtful bowler.

Tre Manders, 17
Right-hand bat

CUP MATCH STATS

Colt

He is a very good early order bat. He had a really good knock in the Colt Cup Match and hopes that form continues here. We’re really hoping he comes good for us. He has such good form and he has amazing potential.

Derek is a very good spin bowler who took wickets in the Trial Match. And he took big scalps too, he didn’t take the regular scalps.
He is also a good bat. He will be a very useful middle order batsman for us.

Malachi Jones, 23

If the Malachi from the MCC Tour shows up, then any team he plays against is in trouble. Malachi has to bring his aggression and think about bowling. In my opinion, he is the premier pace bowler in the island. When Malachi is on, he is virtually unplayable.

He is so dangerous and he also hits the ball hard. He can be a nuisance with the bat as well.

Terryn is one of the better opening bats on the island. He matches well with the left-handed Chris Douglas as an opening bat.

Terryn is so patient and disciplined. he is a stroke player and good in the field and gives Somerset good balance.

Jacobi Robinson, 27

I believe Jacobi is the leading wicket taker in all divisions this season.

He is bowling really well and turning the ball sideways. He is really moving the ball a lot.

When he gets going as a batsman, he can hit the ball to all points.

We are expecting big things out of Jacobi this year.

He is just a very talented cricketer who is a good athlete.

He is a very good seamer and we are expecting him to produce the goods with the ball, but he is also a very good bat. He made some runs in his debut last year and looked good doing it.
