WEDNESDAY, APR. 13: Plans for a new waterfront hotel and yachting marina in the centre of St George’s are progressing, the developers have said. A public meeting will be held tonight at Penno’s Wharf, starting at 7pm, to give residents another chance to preview plans and make suggestions.

Jeremy Spencer, of Leading Edge Limited, which is partnering with the Corporation of St George on the project, is confident the ambitious plan will go ahead.

He said tonight’s meeting will give the people of St George an opportunity to offer their ideas and opinions.

He added: “Things are moving forward and we are confident this is an ideal project for St George’s.

“We have to be patient and stay the course because there are a lot of hurdles to go through. We’re not looking for shortcuts — we are going through all the right channels and believe we have the support to make this happen.”

The provisional plan is for a high-end, 60-room hotel with restaurant, bar and fitness suite alongside a 125-berth marina.
