Pro bowlers on tap for Warwick Lanes in PBA regional tournament

The pro bowlers roll into Warwick this week with the 13th annual South Regional Classic Tournament.

The PBA tournament starts on March 10 and concludes on March 11 with pro-am events on Friday, March 9 starting at 6pm with the juniors.

Fishbowl League

With four weeks to go, Wahoo barely kept their lead in the Fishbowl League with a 3-1 victory over Dolphins. Piranhas made great strides with a 4-0 whitewash of Snappers and are now just a half game behind first place. The loss hurt Snappers' chances as they are now five and a half games of the pace.

Tuna beat Hinds 3-1 and Jellyfish did likewise to Marlins. Barracuda took three from Cow Pollies while Orca and Mackerel split the points. The night's other contest saw Goldfish and Porgies draw 2-2.

Sandra Ford barely missed a 200 game when she rolled a 198. Karen Simmons (182), Sheila Easton (179), Cindy Laurin (170), Judy Aldred (169) and Nichole Burch (168) all had good games.

The top man was Jackie Miller with a 235. Stephen Paul (223), David Mello (222), Alpheus Santucci (204), Bobby DeGraff (203) all got their 200s with Lucky Pitcher at 199 barely missing out.

Porgies 45.5-50.5; 10. Orca 45.5-50.5; 11. Tuna 45.5-50.5; 12. Jellyfish 41.5-54.5; 13. Barracuda 40-56; 14. Dolphins 38.5-57.5.

Barritt's League

PHC were the big winners with a 27 to 3 thrashing of bottom club The Old & the New. Pembroke Juniors, the league leaders, beat Buy & Sell 24 to 6. Other scores saw Southside Two beat Sparks 21 to 9; Southside One knocked off Logic Rollers 22 to 8; and Stash T doubled up Young Bloods 20 to 10.

Dean Lightbourn had the high score with a 258. Lamar Richardson (231) and Paul Simons (229) also bowled well.

Commercial Bowling League

Sunset gained on the league's top three teams with a 3-1 victory over BTC. The loss by BTC prevented them from moving into first as King Pins also fell, 2.5 to 1.5 to Strikers.

Do It Best Masters also missed an opportunity to move up as they were blanked by Braves 4-0.

Other scores saw Spinners win 4-0 and Royal Gazette and Double Trouble split the games.

Chris Leverock led all bowlers with a 236 game and 657 handicap series. Michael Honore (216) and Maurice Lowe (211) also bowled 200s. Marie Ford had the high game amongst women with a 174 while Sylvia Richardson had high handicap series honours with a 625.
