The Bermuda Stock Exchange is hosting Americas’ Central Securities Depositories Association’s General Assembly from Wednesday, March 23 to Friday, March 25 at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
This is the first time an island nation has hosted the event and 24 of the 25 members of ACSDA will be represented at the conference.
Neville Caines, BSX operations manager, said: “The BSX is looking forward to its role as host and, confirming the significance of the event to Bermuda, is grateful that Premier Paula Cox will deliver the keynote address to the Assembly at 11:30am on Thursday.”
Mary Ann Callahan, managing director, global relations and development the depository trust and clearing corporation, on behalf of ACSDA said: “On the eve of arriving in Bermuda, all of us in ACSDA are looking forward to convening our General Assembly hosted by the BSX.
“We are deeply appreciative that Premier Cox will address us, and are grateful to Greg Wojciechowski and Neville Caines for leadership in orchestrating this ambitious, fully bilingual, agenda complemented by an exceptional programme of Bermudian hospitality.”
Part of the agenda will be to see the general assembly elect a new executive committee and officers for the 2011-2013 term.
Highlights
The organization will also publish its audited 2010 financial statements and unveil ACSDA's newly redesigned website.
One the highlights is expected to be the welcoming a new member depository at this meeting.
In addition, through the seminar presentations also on the agenda, the organization will be focusing on key market initiatives in the region and beyond, global regulatory developments and especially on its members’ and ACSDA’s achievements over the past year and plans for 2011.
Greg Wojciechowski, president and CEO of the BSX, said: “Hosting the ACSDA General Assembly is a great honour for Bermuda and we are looking to build upon the relationships and alliances forged within ACSDA.”
