WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22: PLP party chairman Anthony Santucci has stepped down from the post.
Mr Santucci left the party’s top job only a day after he was fired from his job as food and beverage manager at the Grotto Bay resort.
A spokesman for the PLP confirmed: “Party chairman Anthony Santucci announced he is taking a leave of absence, effective immediately, to deal with personal issues.
“Deputy chairman Kim Lightbourne will assume Mr Santucci’s duties.”
Mr Santucci was sacked from the Bailey’s Bay, Hamilton Parish hotel on Friday.
Hotel chief JP Martens confirmed the dismissal, but said the reasons were “a private employment matter.”
It is understood that Mr Santucci has also stepped down from his position on the Bermuda Tourism Board – the second member to leave in the last two weeks after entertainer and businessman Tony Brannon was dumped by Tourism Minister Patrice Minors.
Mr Santucci could not be contacted for comment today.
