SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31: All hail the champ!
Teresa Perozzi won the WBA Middleweight title last night after she beat Lorissa Rivas in a split decision in Tobago.
The American and Venezuelan judges supplied by the WBA had Perozzi winning 97-94 and 96-95 respectively, while the WBC's Guyanese judge saw Rivas ahead 96-94.
The victory runs Perozzi’s record to 8 wins (1 KO), 4 losses and a draw.
The fight was also an elimination bout for the vacant WBA Middleweight title.
The last time Perozzi fought in Trinidad was in 2005 when she had a TKO of hometown favourite Scroller Carrington for the WIBC Middleweight title.
