Perozzi: I haven't hung up my gloves yet

World champ Teresa Perozzi insists she is not yet ready to throw in the towel on her boxing career and hopes to fight in Bermuda later this year.

The NABC middleweight champion has been inactive for over a year since losing to 'the sexy assassin' Natascha Ragosina in a seven-belt Super Middleweight title bid in Germany last March.

And though the fight and the protracted contract dispute with her management company which followed has soured her towards the sport, she is still looking for bouts.

Perozzi, now managing herself, turned down a chance to fight in Africa last month and wants to stay close to home as she continues her boxing career.

"Everybody seems to think I have retired but I haven't.

"There's another fight night coming up in June and if they can find me an opponent I'd love to fight again."

Perozzi is still in touch with a New York based match-maker but after her experience with George Cuozzo's Seconds to Go management firm - who she blamed for poor training and a host of behind the scenes issues in the run-up to her fight with Ragosina - wants to stay in control of her own career.

"I'll never have another manager that is for sure. That whole experience really turned me off.

"I still want to fight, though. If someone can arrange a bout here I'd love to be on the bill.

"I think there is still demand out there to see me fight."

Perozzi, who also runs and plays rugby, says she misses the focus of training for a big fight.

"I miss the discipline and training. I haven't been able to find that in any other sport.

"In some ways I've enjoyed the break. It's given me more time to focus on my son and my business.

"Right now I'm taking it as it comes and waiting to see if something comes up."

Perozzi's NABC belt is technically vacant as she has not defended it in over a year. But as no match-up has been set up at the weight to fight for the belt she is still officially the holder.
