Perozzi gets new title opponent
Highly rated Floridian Kimberley Harris had been scheduled to fight the champ on February 18.
But a personal medical emergency meant that she was unable to honour the commitment, leaving organizers with a race against time to find an opponent worthy of a NABC middleweight title shot.
Promoter Nir Sadeh said that in Deitchman — known as ‘the Sexy Mex’ — they had found an opponent of at least equal calibre.
Like Harris, Deitchman, who is half-Mexican, half-German, has an unenviable pro record.
She has two wins and eight defeats in her career so far. But the sheer amount of pro fights she has had make her an experienced and formidable opponent.
“When you look at who she has come up against it is like a who’s who of women’s boxing.
“In terms of sheer ring time she has got double what Teresa has. It’s similar to what Kimberley would have brought to the table.
“We picked her because we didn’t want to go down a notch.
“Teresa is not interested in fighting a weaker opponent just so she can improve her record.”
It’s been a frantic few weeks for Sadeh since Harris pulled out. Another potential contender was involved in a trucking accident, before a match-maker in the States managed to help secure Deitchman for the February date.
“It’s definitely my hope that those unfortunate incidents are behind us and we can concentrated on the event,
“Teresa is keen to get back in the ring and defend her title. It’s been a long-time coming in terms of getting the belt around her waist and finding a quality opponent for her to fight.”
He said the under-card had now been finalized with nine amateur bouts lined up, as well as the main attraction.
