Paceman Steede to train with Warwickshire
The cricket board has arranged for Steede to play for Atherstone in the Birmingham league for seven weeks during the break in the international programme.
With competition hotting up for the opening bowler slots for World Cup, the placement is good news for Steede who will also train with Warwickshire.
Bermuda’s resident pro in England David Hemp helped arrange for Steede to have weekly net sessions with the English County side and to work with their bowling coach.
The Bermuda Cricket Board, at the recommendation of coach Gus Logie, arranged the Atherstone placement.
It is understood that Steede will join up with the national team again in late July for the Stanford 20/20 Cup in Antigua, the next assignment for Gus Logie’s men.
“He’ll be playing three times a week, training with them twice a week, we’ve set him up with a gym membership, he’s got a nutrition plan to follow. It’s a good opportunity for him to experience different conditions. He’s played at Atherstone before so it was a good fit,” said Neil Speight BCB chief executive.
He added that the placement was part of the BCB’s investment in improving standards ahead of the World Cup.
“George O’Brien got the opportunity to go to the academy in Australia. Ryan has had plenty of playing experience and this is another avenue for him to develop.
“It really is down to what Gus thinks is most appropriate for each player to improve.”[[In-content Ad]]
