OIL Group appoints vice president

The OIL Group of Companies has appointed J. Barrington Brewer to a vice president post at Oil Insurance Ltd.

He will be responsible for marketing, corporate communications, customer retention and business development.

Mr. Brewer will assume the role from September 15.

He has 15 years of insurance and reinsurance company marketing experience — XL Capital and Renaissance Re — and will join the senior management team reporting to George Hutchings, senior vice president and COO for Oil Insurance Ltd.

Mr. Hutchings said: “Barry brings with him a wealth of marketing experience that I am confident will allow him to enhance our marketing and communication efforts with existing shareholders, prospects, the brokerage distribution community and the broader energy insurance industry.

“With the recent modifications to our premium system and windstorm coverage, OIL is now well positioned to prudently grow our membership base over the next several years in accordance with our strategic business plan.”

The OIL Group of Companies is comprised of two member-owned insurance companies serving the energy industry — Oil Insurance Ltd and Oil Casualty Ltd.

Both provide insurance products specific to the needs of the energy industry.
