Funeral postpones Corona League games

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28:

Corona League

Due to a funeral this weekend the East End teams in the Corona League have had their games rescheduled.

Corona League president Michael McGrath said this will be done in the near future.

The Robin Hood versus North Village game has been pushed back to a 3pm kick off so there are no gaps in the sechedule on Saturday at BAA Field.

Friday’s games: Lobster Pot v Valley at 6:30pm; Vasco Mariners v BAA Wanderers at 8:30pm. Saturday: Robin Hood v North Village at 3pm; Flanagan’s Onions v Lock & Key at 5pm

SheRox Triathlon

Nigel Godfrey is looking for help with marshalling the bike course for the She Rox Bermuda Triathlon on Sunday, November 6.

As last year, the course takes in South Road from Barnes Corner to Modern Mart.

Mountain bikes

Hans Hirschi and a few other dedicated mountain bikers are starting a regular group ride next month. Each Sunday morning beginning on November 6 at 8am anyone interested in an off-road ride should meet at Foot-of-the-Lane roundabout.  If you have questions about routes, level of difficulty or the correct tyre pressure for 2.1 semi-slick 29” tire on damp leaves then contact Hirschi at [email protected].

Consolation results from Division 1 in the Rubis Divisional Handicap on Wednesday night.

Division 1 Consolation: Tony Muldoon defeated Colin Alexander in a walk over; John Stout defeated Jan Brewer 4-11, 11-10, 11-9, 8-11, 11-2; Peter Cooper defeated Peter Barrett 11-6, 3-11, 11-9, 11-4; Eugene Bothello -40 defeated Padraic Browne -11-6, 3-11, 11-8, 11-10.

Division 2 Consolation: Bruce Robinson defeated Rohan Pai in a walk over; Nazhir Smith defeated Marc DeVerteuil 11-4, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8; Darren Martin -24 defeated Gavin Dent 10-11, 11-10, 7-11, 11-2, 11-5.

Junior tennis

Results from the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association Junior Open from Wednesday.
