North sweeps karting races
Inclement weather saw only the die-hards show up for racing last Sunday.
Jason North, Bermuda Karting Association president, said: “Quite a few of the drivers didn’t show up and only the TAG class ended up racing a full race day with full wet weather set up.
“It provided a different sort of racing experience for most of us, as we haven't had the opportunity to race in the wet with rain tyres very much.
“In the motor racing world, when it rains, it’s called the great equalizer because your driving style has to change and you’ve got to be super smooth.
“It’s also called that because it doesn't matter how much horsepower you have, but it comes down more to the driving.”
North showed off his skill by winning all four heats in his #91 car. David Barbosa, #6, also showed consistency by placing second four times.
The real battle was for third where Patrick Ingham in the #48 car took third in the first, but lost that spot to Chris Osborne in heats two through four.
Ingham would add two fourths to his day and did not start the day’s final heat.
Steven Eversley had two fourths and two fifths to finish the day with 50 points for his efforts.
The next scheduled race day is January 9.
