THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6: A bar and lounge has rebranded itself to promote quality products and great service at a lower price.
The new O Bar, formerly Opus, on Bermudiana Road is part of the Fresco’s Group of companies and is run by restaurateur Claudio Vigilante.
The popular lounge took a hiatus and is back with a new name, menu and martini specials to entice a wider sector of customers.
Mr Vigilante explained the reason for the rebranding and the new name.
“We wanted to change the image.
“We tried to detach ourselves from the concept of what Opus was.
“We needed to rebrand it.”
He continued: “We want to have a different direction suiting the customers.
‘The emphasis is still on the cocktails lounge and happy hour, early evening place.
“We will continue having food and in the evenings for the same prices and on Friday’s, there’s a DJ starting at 7pm until 11 or 12.
“And we will do more food and drink specials.”
Mr Vigilante said the menus have changed at O Bar with martinis and mojitos priced at a reasonable $8.50.
“We’re doing a little bit more with the menus.
“We have the Three-Olives vodka martinis and a lot of mojitos and they’re all $8.50 every day.
“We do prosecco specials which are done very well.
“The specials are by the glass and by the bottle.
“We will continue our promotions with the mojitos and the caprihinas.
“Continue with the cocktail lounge but more of a progressive pricing and more geared to the after five crowd.”
Asked how the response has been so far, Mr Vigilante said: “It’s been good especially on the weekends.
“The lunch menu is doing extremely well.
“We have sandwiches for $4.95 all day and the rest of the menu is $8.50, so for less than $10 you can have a really great lunch.”
Menu items include a variety on sandwiches, panini’s, and hot dishes.
“The last menu we were focusing more on tapas and small plates.
“This one, we area focusing on comfort food, good quality food.
“So we have the Indian specialties — the curries, the chicken tikka.”
Mr Vigilante continued: “We’re doing the sandwiches and we’re going to introduce some of the Bermudian dishes.
“We have the fish cakes and the fish chowder and we will do macaroni.
“Stuff that people enjoy at lunch time.
“Obviously we are focusing on the flavours as well.
“We want to provide the quality service that we’re known for.”
Mr Vigilante said now that O Bar has opened, old patrons have returned.
“People are coming back.
“I had someone this morning saying I’m so glad you reopened.
“We’re glad to be reopened.
“We’re glad we are doing the things that we were doing before.
“We always had a good following.”
Mr Vigilante said O Bar has events coming up including one for breast cancer awareness.
He is also looking to implement live music during happy hour.
