SUNDAY, MARCH 18: Bermuda remains winless at the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in Dubai.

On Sunday Bermuda lost to Nepal by 24 runs, marking the fifth straight defeat for the island’s cricketers.

Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first and putting up a respectable total of 151/6.

Dion Stovell was again Bermuda’s key bowler as he snagged four wickets for 25 runs in his four overs. The only other bowler to take any wickets was Justin Pitcher who took two for 29 in his three overs.

Janeiro Tucker was the most expensive of Bermuda’s bowlers and gave up 12 runs in his one over Rodney Trott had an economy rate of 8.

Tucker did make amends with his batting with a strike rate of 118.51 as he had 32 runs before being bowled.

Captain David Hemp had 26 runs while Stovell (16), Kamau Leverock (15) and Stephen Outerbridge (10) all reached double figures.

While both Hemp and Stovell had two of Bermuda’s highest runs total, they never pushed close to the required run rate of 7.55 per over and the team began facing an increasing more difficult total to achieve.

Bermuda still has Group A games left against Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan as well as a place game before returning to the island.
