MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19: A three-minister delegation from Bermuda will attend an infrastructure summit in Miami beginning on Wednesday.
Premier Paula Cox, Walter Roban, Minister of Environment and Zane DeSilva, Minister of Health will be a part of the KPMG Infrastructure Summit, an Island Perspective of a Global Challenge from September 21 to 23.
Premier Cox will deliver the keynote address on the opening day of the conference, Thursday September 22.
The Summit is designed to bring together government and industry leaders from the Caribbean region who share similar challenges with regard to developing and maintaining critical national infrastructure in the face of declining government revenues and tight credit markets.
All of this is driving a search for alternative funding sources, and better ways to deliver essential large capital projects.
KPMG is hosting the Summit, the first of its kind to share challenges, success stories and opportunities unique to island economies, while bringing together leaders of government, developers and financiers.
Some of the other countries to be involved in the Summit include the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas.
Minister Roban said:” We anticipate that as a result of the summit we will be better positioned to put life to our mandate to develop an infrastructure strategy for Bermuda.
“I am looking forward to attending this summit and bringing fresh ideas back to Bermuda.”
Minister De Silva added: “ I am greatly looking forward to sharing Bermuda’s experience on establishing a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with my colleagues from other Caribbean jurisdictions.”
