Minister calls on bus drivers to return to work
THURSDAY, AUGUST 18: Bus drivers who do not support the strike are being urged to turn up to work this afternoon.
Drivers are understood to be divided over the decision to take buses off the road in protest over the sacking of a colleague who refused to take a drug test following an accident.
And Transport Minister Terry Lister today issued a plea to drivers to come to work.
The department issued a statement just before 2pm, saying: “The Minister encourages DPT bus operators and other employees who wish to continue working at this time to please report to the DPT Fort Langton (Palmetto Road) Depot.
“If you wish to work we encourage you to do so.”
