WEDNESDAY, FEB. 15: Dominique Mayho clinched the Mountain Bike title with his fifth straight victory.
Mayho won Sunday’s The Latter Rain Water Service Racing Series event at Hog Bay Park.
With two races to go, no other rider can overtake him in the standings.
Sunday’s action at Hog Bay Park saw 43 riders battle the one-mile track. The long, fast downhill sections combined with slippery uphill climbs made for challenging racing conditions.
Dexter Swan was second in the A Class with Hans Hirschi third.
Mark Hatherley in second in the overall standings with 84 points and Swan is third on 76 points, one ahead of Hirschi.
In the Men’s B Class, returning top veteran rider Kent Richardson took line honours, followed by junior Daniel Oatley in second and Duncan Simons in third.
In the Novice Men’s Class, Phil Hill was king of the hill, followed by Chris Roque in second and Gary Joel in third.
In the Women’s Class, Karen Smith took top honours.
In the Junior Men’s class 13-16 years, Daniel Hetzel took the checkered flag, followed by Robin Horsfield in second and Christian Oatley in third. In the Junior 12 and under division, Mathew Oliveira won his fourth race in a row with Alex Bordage in second and Alex Arouja finishing third.
In the Junior Women’s class 13-16 years, Gabriella Arnold was first, followed by Tristan Narraway in second and Jessica Godfrey in third. In the Junior 12 and under division Alyssa Rowse took top honours.
Next week’s race will be at Ferry Reach and it will be an endurance race starting at 8:45am.
