WEDNESDAY, JAN. 25: Promising young rider Dominique Mayho won the mountain bike race at Ferry Reach last Sunday.
A record 54 riders turned out to race on the two-mile course. Rider Dexter Swan said the Ferry Reach course favours the technical rider and “did not fail to dispappoint the participants. With a combination of steep climbs, fast descents and long straightaways, riders were challenged at every turn.”
Mayho took the title in the latest event in the Latter Rain Water Mountain Bike Series, which was missing a couple of the top riders in Grant Goudge and Neil de ste Croix.
Dexter Swan was second and the always competitive Mark Hatherley was third.
Brian Steinhoff took the Men’s B title in a large field of 24 riders. Mannard Packwood was second and Scott Mello third. Junior rider Daniel Oatley was fifth in this group.
Philandro Hill took the Novice Men title in a field of seven that included Chris Roque, Sean Correia and Lou Matthews.
