FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12: Beverle Lottimore has been appointed the press secretary for Premier Paula Cox. Ms. Lottimore, who is also the director of the Department of Communication and Information will serve as Premier Cox’s primary media liaison to both the local and overseas press, attending to significant matters of interest to the Bermudian public.
Of Ms. Lottimore’s appointment, Premier Cox said: “I am extremely pleased to welcome director Lottimore to the team. We recognize that the delivery of a clear message on the work of our administration is essential, and Ms Lottimore has a dedication and work ethic that will fit well.”
Ms Lottimore said: “To serve in this capacity as a team member of the Cox Administration is an honour I accept with the understanding that I will rise each day to meet the high standards of the Premier of our Country and the people whom we serve. It is humbling and exhilarating and I have no doubt that as long as I remain mindful of the service required of me, I will succeed.”
Ms. Lottimore is no stranger to the post of press secretary, having served in the position under former Premier Alex Scott from 2003 - 2006.
Ms. Lottimore joined the Civil Service in August 2003. She has an extensive background in media relations, advertising and qualitative marketing research. More recently she played the pivotal role in the launch of CITV — the first Government television station.
Ms. Lottimore assumed the role of Press Secretary to Premier Cox on November 3, 2010.
As a note, Ms. Lottimore is joined in the Cabinet Office team by newly appointed Senator, David Burt, who has also assumed the role of chief of staff and Scott Simmons who has undertaken the responsibility of press attaché, with a concentration on the political aspects of press relations in the Premier’s capacity as Leader of the Progressive Labour Party.
