Logie issues challenge for young players to try out for national team

Come and have a go if you think your good enough.

That's the message from national coach Gus Logie as he prepares to hold an 'open house' for any players who think they could play for Bermuda.

In the aftermath of the World Cup, Logie said the door was wide open for any player who wanted to represent his country.

And he urged young players in particular to show up tomorrow, put their skills to the test, and put their name in the ring to represent Bermuda.

Every national team coach from under-15 to the senior level will be at the National Centre from 10am, running a series of skills drills and doing analysis.

Players will have the opportunity to put themselves forward for the national team. They'll also get a glimpse of what is required to play for Bermuda as the sport moves into a new era in this country.

"We are talking about taking people from the grassroots to the international arena. This is what it is all about.

" We are putting a call out to any young guys interested in representing their country. We'll be looking to players who feel they have the ability to show what they can do.

"Really and truly, the sky is the limit."

National team assistant coach Herbie Bascome, analyst Lorenzo Tucker, national youth coaches Grant Smith and George Cannonier, all senior and youth national team players, selectors, physios and umpires will be in attendance to answer questions and offer advice to aspiring players.

There will also be an opportunity for coaches to learn about different drills, video analysis and how to formulate game plans. "It's a chance to see how it works at national level. It's also an opportunity for the coaches to take some of these ideas back to the young ones."[[In-content Ad]]
