Letter: You made us feel welcome
FRIDAY, OCT. 26: Dear Sir,
Returning to Bermuda after 14 years I was amazed that the good manners and politeness of Bermudians is still so evident and a delight, especially on the buses and particularly to St. George’s and St. David’s. This makes tourists feel welcome and wanting to return — this really helps tourism in Bermuda, you know!
Also experiencing the new Hydration System in Hamilton is a benefit for everyone. Congratulations. Please expand this facility to the Dockyard and St. George’s.
The ferry from Dockyard to St. George’s only partly overcomes the problem of fewer cruise ships in St. George’s.
Although we enjoyed the quietness at the weekends there, it is not good for tourism or the economy (which I am not going to comment on).
If St George’s is a World Heritage site, why is the Government neglecting to promote it to tourists?
It is a wonderful but neglected place and that is why the shops are closing. A new hotel would help!
The VIC in St. George’s does an excellent job and is so helpful whereas in Hamilton we found no one there even when we found the tiny counter in a snack bar.
One of our disappointments was the state of Horseshoe Bay beach. It was very crowded the first time we went this visit, yet none of the seaweed had been removed. We remember it as a cleaned beach (often after winter storms).
The second time we went it was nearly deserted. Perhaps other tourists did not want to return to such a beach
We have enjoyed reading the Bermuda Sun during our visit and agree with ‘First step to bulding your wealth is honesty’ — this applies to everyone — Bermudian, Government and even tourist !
