Letter - We love it when you accuse the PLP's leaders of corruption

Dear Sir,

Your columnist Stuart Hayward got it wrong this time when he wrote in his column "that the rank and file of the PLP are tired of hearing their leaders accused of corruption."

By now Stuart must know that the rank and file of the PLP love it when he and others accuse our leaders of corruption.

In fact, we can't wait for Fridays to come so that we can read the Bermuda Sun and the Mid-Ocean News to see how corrupt our leaders are. Some of us even keep Stuart's column on our bedside table so that we can read it every day until the next one comes out.

We love it when Stuart refers to Dr. Brown as corrupt. We appreciate him more now than ever because he has now included Minister Burgess and Senator Marc Bean as joining the club of corrupt politicians. After all, Senator Bean should never have reported to Minister Burgess that the roads in Constituency 31 needed to be repaved. Senator Bean should have known to wait until Charlie Swan made that assessment, as he did, and then let him ask Minister Burgess to have the road repaved. Certainly Stuart would never have accused Charlie Swan of being surrounded by "the taint of corruption".

Sincere assessment

Stuart should also know that PLP supporters appreciate him more than we appreciate those other people like Tom Vesey, Bill Zuill and Tim Hodgson, who make similar accusations. After all, Stuart looks like us so we know that he is more sincere in his assessment of our leaders than those other people are.

Stuart is correct when he writes that we in Bermuda must work tirelessly to shine the light of exposure every time it (corruption/dishonesty) occurs. I think it's time that somebody in Bermuda shone the light of exposure on guest workers who make up reasons to stay in Bermuda under the guise of saving our environment.

Maybe someone needs to have a word with the Minister of Immigration because we all know that he's definitely against corruption.
