Letter: I need help tracing my family tree
My name is Richard Freeman and I am seeking information on my great grandfather, Henry Charles Tucker, who was born in Bermuda on May 26, 1842.
He migrated to Fiji in the mid-1860s and came with his brother Samuel Reeve Hammond Tucker.
His first wife, Theodosia Cudlip, died in childbirth and their son only survived 13 months.
He then married Sophia Storck, my great grandmother. They had three children but two died young.
Their first-born, Ella, married Osbert Freeman, my grandfather.
Unfortunately, we have little oral history because my father died at 42, when I was 16, so I had no chance to quiz him - at that age you are not interested in family history.
Sophia lived with us but, again, so much information was lost.
My father's brothers left Fiji at about this time so again contact was lost.
The Storck family is holding a 150-year reunion in Fiji in September and all 19 members of our immediate family are attending, so this has regenerated a desire to learn about my other ancestors.
If anyone in Bermuda can help, can they please
e-mail me at thefreemans [email protected]
