Letter: Government must address economic gap between races
Dear Sir,
The real racial divide today is the economic disparity between the black and white community, with the black community suffering all the consequence of crime, violence, lack of housing and the disintegration of the family.
I do not have to defend the racial rhetoric in order to point out that those who are so self righteously condemning it are not much better as they talk about “all moving forward together” and “breaking down walls” without any of them having the courage to address the economic disparity.
Under this Government, Correia’s Portuguese firm has flourished, Global Hue, a black American firm, has benefitted from the Premier’s Affirmative Action policy for black Americans, while Pro-Active, the black Bermudian firm, was sacked and destroyed.
Yes, the public is listening, the public is hearing and they are tired of the rhetoric on both sides.
Both sides seem more concerned with either attacking or defending the white community and neither is coming forward with legislation to address the real racial divide of the economic disparity that continues to destroy the black community.
