KPMG outhits CITI in two wild games
CITI took game one 29 to 24. The game was fairly well-balanced with KPMG rallying with 11 runs in the bottom of the sixth to hold a 24 to 17 advantage. Matt Mahar (2-4) hit a grand slam to help fuel the fightback. In the fifth team-mate Eandy Dichena (4-6) hit a three-run shot to help CITI keep pace with KPMG.
Jason Cheng (4-5), Mike Gentile (4-5), Gordon Peterson (5-6) and Dhammika Weerappuli (4-6) all had hits in the inning to spark the comeback by CITI.
Peter Dahill (4-5) did well with the bat for CITI in the losing cause.
Game two was even more exciting with the game going into extra innings. The game was finally decided on Weerappuli's walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the eight. Team-mates Marc Weaver (5-6), Mike Gentile (4-7) had put KPMG in position to win with some timing hitting.
Randy D'Cunha (4-7), Matt Mahar (3-4), Peter Dahill (3-3) and Paul Larkin (3-5) were the big bats for KPMG.
JLT Park 22, TBI Highspeeders 11
A first-inning three-run homer by Bob Hansberry (3-4) helped set the tone of this contest as Park led wire-to-wire. Andrew McDowell (3-5) homered in reply for TBI, but every inning was the same - with Park outscoring their rivals.
Shaun Tucker (3-4) and Mark Wilson (3-5) did their part in a losing effort for TBI.
Patrick Kenahan (5-6) was the optimum leadoff man for Park by getting himself into position to score with three doubles. Chris Heinicke (4-5) also hit a home run for Park.
